Freshman Academy prepares high school students for admission to the world's top universities with partial or full scholarships.

Freshman Academy was founded in 2019 by a team of Yale-NUS students. Since then, Freshman's graduates were admitted to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, Berkeley, Babson, and many more.

Our mission is not just to prepare you for IELTS and SAT or help you write a motivational essay. At Freshman, we are nurturing the next generation of world leaders in Politics, Economics, Humanities, Arts, and Sciences.

Our Team

Valera Arakelyan

President of Freshman Academy

Valera is recent graduate at Yale-NUS College, majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He completed the Grand Strategy Program at Yale University. Over the last two years, Valera has helped his students get into top universities where they cumulatively received grants of over four million dollars.
Emma Grimley

Head of Teaching

Emma is a recent Yale-NUS College graduate, majoring in Urban Studies and minoring in Anthropology. Emma is originally from Vancouver, Canada. She has just completed her undergraduate thesis on the experiences of international school students in Singapore.
Dr. Lyusyena Kirakosyan

Head of Admissions

Dr. Lyusyena Kirakosyan serves as a Senior Project Associate at the Virginia Tech Institute for Policy and Governance. Also, as a college essay coach, she has helped students write effective, memorable essays for undergraduate college admissions to U.S., Canadian, and European universities.
Umid Usmanov

SAT English Teacher

Umid is a sophomore at Yale University and a graduate of the Yale Young Global Scholars Program. With over 3 years of teaching experience, Umid has helped many students successfully prepare for IELTS and SAT. Having received 1510 on the exam, he is committed to sharing his knowledge with others.

Alisher Alibekov

SAT Math Teacher

Alisher is a graduate of Nazarbayev University with a major in Civil and Environmental Engineering. His interests include sustainable energy and water resources. Alisher is planning to work in the Oil Industry and Environmental Consulting.
Chris Dmitrov

Admissions Program Coordinator

Originally from Bulgaria, Chris grew up in Austria, did his high school in New Zealand, and is now graduating from Yale-NUS College in Singapore. Since his first year, Chris also worked with Yale-NUS' Admissions & Financial Aid Office leading countless admissions interviews with short-listed students.
Sam Davtian

Discussion Club Moderator

Sam is a rising sophomore student at NYU Shanghai, majoring in Business and Marketing. He is a TEFL-certified teacher as well as the leader of our speaking club. Sam is also an active member of European Youth Parliament where he substantiates his knowledge of the current status quo in European countries.
Sega Arakelyan

Advanced English Teacher

Sega is a junior at Yale-NUS College, majoring in History and minoring in Arts & Humanities. Being one of the first students at Freshman, Sega managed to increase his SAT score from 1060 to 1520 over a span of six months and was subsequently admitted to one of the most selective colleges in the world.
